Well.. apart from the various exams and reports and presentations in this month, I also passed the driver’s test, and I got my Driver’s license. Mom sent me $5000 for a car. Sweet right? Thats where all troubles started. I spent too much on searching for cars. I went to Houston, San Antonio using a rented car. I spent close to $600. Thus, my budget was reduced to $4400. On top of this, I got a speeding ticket on the journey back from Houston, on new year eve.
Frustrated, I put a post on craigslist asking for a car within a few miles from my place. There was one mexican who called, and we arranged for seeing the car. I Ok’d it. I was a bit apprehensive since this was my first car, and I didn’t know if I made the right choice. It is a Nissan Sentra 2002 with 108K. I got it for $4500 incl. all taxes. Overall an Ok car. My electricity bill gave me a mini shock when it turned out to be $427. How is that? Excessive changing of the A/C thermostat, and an extremely dirty A/C air filter led to that. So.. been collecting money from all who stayed in my room during the billing period. Including a guy who stayed (temporarily) for 20 days. I’m asking him $100. There is no way I can afford paying that.
Meanwhile, it was jan 30, and I was supposed to meet the judge regarding my speeding ticket. I requested her to let me take the Defensive driving test, to avoid getting the ticket on my history. She agreed. I’m yet to take that stupid class.
There have been very little student inflow this semester, as a result of which most of the apartments in our complex are vacant. As you can guess, I’ve been trying to get a room mate but in vain. This has led to a huge increase in the expenses over the last few weeks, since I’ve to pay for everything, including rent, electricity, water, and my groceries. Not able to bear such expenses, last week I decided to do a job, and I ventured to San Antonio. After the hands on experience with a gas station, I realised it was impossible for me to do such work. It was tiring, mainly due to having to stand all day long. Secondly, lack of food for hours together, coupled with a really smelly, dirty room, I decided not to go there again. I’m still wondering how I should meet my expenses.
